If you have been following along my movie journey, you’ll know that my daughters and I are watching movies from a list I made. You can check that list out HERE if you’d like. There are a ton of movies on this list that I plan to watch with my daughters. These were movies I watched growing up, so I want them to experience these movies as well. We all sit down as a family each week and pick out a movie. We don’t always get to watch one a week, but we try.

About The Indian in the Cupboard

An Adventure Comes to Life! The most amazing adventure is awaiting. Are you ready to unlock the secret? On his ninth birthday, Omri is presented with many gifts – the most unusual being a cupboard. But this is no ordinary wooden box. It is endowed with magical power that transforms Omri’s plastic toy figurines into living creatures. The first miniature to be animated is a 19th Century Iroquois warrior named Little Bear, who is terrified at first by his alien surroundings but soon bonds with his gigantic playmate. But when Omri’s friend, Patrick, gets in on the act and brings a six-shooting cowboy (David Keith, U-571) to life, their fantastic secret is in danger of being revealed. The Indian in the Cupboard is terrific family entertainment from director Frank Oz (Bowfinger) and Melissa Mathison, the writer of E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial.

You should know by now that we always have a snack board to go along with our movie, or at least some kind of snacks or food anyways. We tried to do our best with this one. It was a bit harder trying to think of what to have for this movie. We just decided to go with some bread and cheese. I was pretty sure the Indian (Little Bear) always loved bread, so we just went with that.

I thought I had seen this movie when I was younger, but it turns out that I don’t think I ever did. When I was younger, I remember hearing of the movie, but I don’t think I had ever seen it until I watched it with my daughters. I’m very glad I did though, because it was a pretty good movie. It was fun seeing Little Bear and all these other figures coming to life. Such a good movie.

Have you ever seen The Indian in the Cupboard before? It’s a pretty good movie, and both my daughters and I really did enjoy seeing it together. This would be a movie that I would recommend to anyone if you haven’t already seen it. You can grab this movie off AMAZON if you’d like.

“The Indian in the Cupboard” was such a big part of my childhood in the 90s, and your article really brought back those memories. It’s wonderful how the movie captures the imagination and teaches important lessons about different cultures. Your thoughts on its adaptation and lasting themes really hit home. Thanks for revisiting this classic!

I never saw the Indian on the Cupboard, but I remember seeing previews of it. It looks interesting, and I think it’s based on a book I have not read yet. Looks cool!
