Movie #33 is The Breakfast Club

26 February, 2026 by KatBp 10 Comments

If you have been following along my movie journey, you’ll know that my daughters and I are watching movies from a list I made. You can check that list out HERE if you’d like. There are a ton of movies on this list that I plan to watch with my daughters. These were movies I watched growing up, so I want them to experience these movies as well. We all sit down as a family each week and pick out a movie. We don’t always get to watch one a week, but we try.

About

They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m. they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. John Hughes, creator of the critically acclaimed Sixteen Candles, wrote, directed and produced this hilarious and often touching comedy starring Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy. To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be The Breakfast Club.

The Breakfast Club is one of my all time favorite movies. Although breakfast was never really a part of the show, we decided to make breakfast just because the title of the movie. We thought that was a fun idea since it kind of went with the title. We made some mini pancakes, bacon, eggs, and even had some delicious fruit.

If you still haven’t seen The Breakfast Club yet, I highly recommend it. I was so excited to be able to share this one with my daughters. I have been watching this one for so long, because it’s one of my favorite movies all time. In this movie, a few teens were all in detention, and they are suppose to sit and be quiet, but that doesn’t happen. They all actually don’t really like each other at first either. It is a highly recommended movie for sure.

I would love to know if you have seen this movie yet. I’m sure a lot of you have already seen this one, since I know it is such a classic. You could even grab your own copy off AMAZON if you’d like.

I loved reading your take on The Breakfast Club and why it remains such a beloved film decades after its release. It really does feel timeless in the way it explores identity, connection, and the pressures teenagers face. The story of five very different students learning to see past stereotypes during a Saturday detention is simple on the surface but packs a lot of emotional truth and honesty that still resonates today. Thanks for reminding us why this John Hughes classic continues to inspire conversation and connection across generations.

I’ve seen this movie a long time ago but might have to watch it again to remember the story. I know it’s one of those classic 80s movies. Glad you had a great time watching it with your daughters.

I can’t remember if I watched this one at my friends house. We used to watch all of the fun 80s movies like Grease, beaches, and more.
