Fancy a fun family road trip? Then you need to get ready for it! Because when you’ve got young kids in the back, you and your partner up front, and a million different things to pack to take with you, you’re going to need a car that fits you all.
But not just in regards to the available physical space either. You need a car that’ll suit the varying needs of every member of your family.
And when you’re all on a long road trip together, these needs really can rear their ugly heads! That’s why getting the right car should be the first thing on your road trip prep list.
And yes, that might mean you need a different vehicle than the one you rely on to get you around town on a regular basis!
But seeing as that could be quite the expense you’ll need to make, you’re going to need to know what to look for in the car that’ll make your road trip a much more pleasant experience.
Storage Options
Kids are pretty messy little human beings, and that’s not much we can do to try and prevent things being spilled or thrown all over the car.
However, if you have a vehicle that has more storage options for keeping things, the mess won’t spread as far or be too difficult to clean up.
After all, even just having a set of cup holders in the back passenger seats (and not just in the front) can prevent juice boxes and sippy cups from breaking open.
It also means they’re less likely to be dropped, as they have somewhere else to go while your kids try out a car game or a coloring book.
Space to Lie Down
When either you or the kids need to take a nap, the car you’re in should let you recline and get comfortable.
That’s another reason why you need a bigger vehicle with a good bit of leg room. You don’t want to end up crushing any knees or toes when you need to pop the seat back and try to relax!
The Media Center
It might not seem like an important element (in comparison to things like off-roading capability, reliability, and average vehicle safety), but when you’re on a family road trip, entertainment is on everyone’s mind.
The kids especially are going to need something to keep their interest up and their energy levels from spiralling out of control.
Otherwise you’re just going to hear the kids fighting, shouting, saying they’re bored, and even acting out because they feel they have nothing else to do.
So look for a car that has a top of the range media center at its core. For example, in a ford expedition for sale, you’ll find an easy-link dashboard display for phones and tablets, that comes fitted with a wifi hotspot.
When you’re planning a family road trip, your car needs to be the first thing you sort out!
