Did you know that November is Prematurity Awareness Month? I have always thought that this is such an important topic. I honestly didn’t know til recently that they had a month for this. I’m very glad that November can have this awareness month though. I completely support this month on premature babies. It’s so important to know all your facts about babies.
Parents have been instinctively hugging their babies since the beginning of time, but research shows that this natural act can do more than calm a cry or soothe some stress. Hugs can help keep a baby’s heart beating at a normal rate, improve sleep and support healthy weight gain, according to a recent Huggies study titled “The Power of Human Touch for Babies.”
Hug your babies as much as you want! I remember when my girls were born, and I hugged them often and still do. I think it creates a great bond with your children as well. It’s always nice to feel loved, and hugs can really help out with stress.
No Baby Unhugged will help babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) get the hugs they need when moms and dads can’t be there, by funding grants for volunteer hugging programs in U.S. hospitals. NICUs are increasingly integrating volunteer hugging programs to make sure that the approximate 380,000 pre-term infants born in the U.S. and other newborns receive enough human contact for their health and welfare.
For every person who signs up to become a Huggies Member at Huggies.com/NoBabyUnhugged, Huggies will donate $5 to support volunteer hugging program grants for hospitals.

Other elements of Huggies No Baby Unhugged includes creating special diapers and wipes for the tiniest of babies and continued Huggies product donations across the country to fight the diaper need issue in America.
The Tiniest Hugs:

I didn’t know that November was preemie awareness month. I don’t have experience with preemies but I know a few people who do and I know how important it is to have the right size baby items. Huggies is doing a great thing!

Way too many babies are premature. It’s so wonderful to bring awareness to stressful and sometimes tragic event. My first baby was born at 27 weeks.

I love cuddling with my kids even if they are all grown ups. I think hugging is one of the most important ways to show your love. This is a great way to raise prematururity awareness.

I had no idea diapers were an issue for so many. Last year I learned about an organization locally who does the same thing.

I can’t stand the thought o a baby wearing a diaper longer than necessary. I would help a momma provide diapers to prevent this.

My sister-in-laws friend had a micro-preemie. I don’t remember how far along she was when he was born but he was less than 2 pounds and just over a foot long. He was hospitalized for a really long time but he made it and is 13 now. He has had a lot of struggles with his vision, and I believe he has some learning delays as well but nothing too severe. He is in special education classes at a public school. It is really amazing how some kids get such a difficult start at life but end up quite successful.
