Synopsis
After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

In inspiration of this movie coming out, I thought it would be fun to make a craft for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I went with doing salt dough because it’s a simple craft, yet it would go great with these ninja turtles. I knew that I could turn the salt dough green to get the color of the turtles and then do their masks on there as well. It really is a very simple craft, and it’s so much fun to do too.

TMNT Salt Dough

  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Parchment Paper
  • Baking Sheet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Circle Cookie Cutter or Mason Jar Lid
  • Googly Eyes
  • Paint (red, orange, purple and blue)
  • Paint Brush
  • Glue
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Cup White Flour
  • Green Food Gel/Coloring
  1. The first thing you want to do, is get out a bowl and mix in the flour, salt, food gel/coloring and the warm water. Keep mixing that up good until it feels more like dough and all the food coloring is mixed in good.

  2. Now you will want to put some flour down and roll out the dough. Use your cookie cutter or mason jar lid to cut out the circle shapes.

  3. Make sure your oven is set to 200 degrees and use parchment paper over your baking sheets. You can now put your cut out shapes on the baking sheet. Bake them for about 2 hours or until hard.

  4. Once they're done, take them out of the oven and let them cool off. You're going to want to use paint next to just swipe a line across each of the salt dough pieces. I just used purple, red, blue and orange for each of the turtles.

  5. Now you can glue on the googly eyes. Or if you have the already stick on ones, that works too. That is it. Very simple and easy to do.
