The Emoji Movie+Craft

8 November, 2017 by KatBp 58 Comments

The Emoji Movie has already been released, and my family is excited about it. We loved it when we first saw it, so we knew we’d have to have this movie when it came out. My daughters have always loved all the emoji’s when they saw them for the first time. We were so excited when we heard they were releasing a movie about all the emoji’s. We certainly loved it when we were able to see it too. I thought it was a great movie for kids to watch. A good family movie too.

About the movie:

Take an adventure in the secret world inside your smartphone to Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression – except for Gene (T.J. Miller), who is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become “normal”, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris). Together, these unlikely heroes embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the code that will fix Gene!

THE EMOJI MOVIE is directed by Tony Leondis, with screenplay by Tony Leondis & Eric Siegel and Mike White and story by Tony Leondis & Eric Siegel. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Animation, with Michelle Raimo Kouyate serving as the producer.

THE EMOJI MOVIE has a run time of approximately 91 minutes and is rated PG: for Rude Humor.

Since emoji’s seem to be very popular, I wanted to make a craft that would be simple and fun to make with kids. I decied to make these emoji pencil holders. They’re so easy to make, that even kids can help out.

The first thing you’ll want to do, is to find some cans. You can use any kind of can. Make sure to wash and rinse them out good too. Also make sure to take the wrapper off it because you’ll be painting them. All you have to do is find some yellow paint, and start painting the outside of them.

Once the paint has dried, you can start making the faces for the emoji’s. You can pick whatever emoji’s you’d like. I love the heart eyes emoji, and I had hearts, so I knew this would be perfect for that emoji. All I did was glue the hearts on for the eyes and I used a black permanent marker for the mouth. I outlined the mouth first, and then I filled it in with the black marker.

I also did the emoji with his tongue sticking out. I used a googly eye for one of his eyes, and a black permanent marker for the eye that was closed. I had some soft pink foam that I used for his tongue and glued that right on as well. I did the best I could with filling in his mouth too. I had to get rid of some of the paint around his mouth to make it look better too.

Once you are done with doing the faces, you can let them sit a bit to dry and start putting pencils and pens in them. I filled one with pencils, one with pens and the other with markers. You can fill these with anything you’d like. My girls loved seeing the outcome of them and were excited for these. We now have them up on our bookshelf for everyone to see. It makes it easier for them to grab pencils for when they have projects to do for school as well.

If you haven’t picked up your own copy of The Emoji Movie yet, make sure to do so. It’s such a cute movie that I think many will love. Our family certainly loved it and have already watched it a few times. My youngest daughters birthday and her party is this weekend, and we plan to watch it with all her friends during her party. I’m sure they’re all going to love seeing it if they haven’t already.

What is your favorite Emoji?

I don’t know if I have a favorite emoji. I don’t really use them all that often. The one I do use when I go for one is the happy face.
