One of the things I enjoy to do for my family, is cooking. Ever since I was little I have always loved to cook. There are so many recipes you can make with all the food you have at your own home. You just have to be creative and thing of something you could make. Sometimes you just have to throw some ingredients together and hope that it’s going to turn out great. This is something I have always loved doing. When I was little I would always help my mother cook. It was something that I enjoyed doing growing up, and I still enjoy it. I think it’s fun being able to create your own recipe from some ingredients you have sitting at home.

Now that I’m a mother of two daughters, I have noticed that my girls love to cook as well. They’re a bit young yet, but they help me out in the kitchen a lot. My oldest has really shown an interest in cooking. She’ll be eight in a few months, so it’s the perfect time to help her cook up her own meals. Of course it’s always fun to cook with your kids too. It can create a great bonding experience and I find it helpful for kids to learn to cook themselves.

My oldest daughter, Mercades and I love to watch cooking shows together too. They are some of my favorite shows. I find them to be so inspiring. Anyone can take a few simple ingredients and put together a meal. We love to be able to see what kind of recipes they all cook up each day. What is great, is that there are so many cooking shows out there. That means that we can get inspired by many different chefs! Everyone is different with cooking techniques and such, so it’s great to learn from multiple chefs to see how they all do.

We recently had the opportunity to read a book called Dex. This book is about a middle school kid who loves to cook. I don’t want to say to much without ruing the book for you all. Dex does run a gourmet lunch stand from his own front lawn. He loves to cook so much, that he’ll come up with many kinds of recipes. Can any of your kids relate to this? I’m sure many of you have kids that love to cook like mine! What Dex wants to really do, is earn some money so that he can buy a gym system. Unfortunately he discovers that his grandmothers restaurant isn’t going so well. He wants to be able to save that, so his plans change quickly.

dex-cover

With the help of his sister and friends, Dex has to get his business going better. His business really starts to spread, so he’s doing very well for himself. He even lands his own TV cooking show on the famous Eatz network. Unfortunately things go wrong when he goes head to head with Preston, a scheming associate. Dex and everyone else ends up finding out what Preston is really about. Will Dex be able to save his grandmothers restaurant? You’re going to have to check this book out to find out what happens!

We thought this book was very inspirational. For kids that love to cook, this book can really inspire them to live their dreams and go for what they believe in. Since my daughters are getting more in to cooking, this was a great book for us all. It was wonderful to be able to have my children hear about how Dex did with all his cooking. This will certainly help my girls do more cooking and not to give up on their dreams.

My children have always been helping me out in the kitchen ever since they were really little. I think that many kids love to help out their parents in the kitchen. They have even prepared some recipes of their own. It’s fun to see how creative they can be. I think that being creative when coming up with recipes is a great thing. It’s so great to have young kids want to learn to cook and prepare meals! This book certainly inspired our whole family.

I hope that if you have kids of your own who love to cook, that you’ll get the Dex book. This was a great book for all of us, and I hope that you’ll all enjoy this as much as we did. It’s great to be cooking in the kitchen together with family! You can get this book at Amazon.

I would not say that my child really likes to cook. I do need him to get started on it so that he knows how to do it. I need to find some easy recipes for him.

I’m not a cook at all, but my boyfriend is and he loves to cook. My son started showing interest in watching him in the kitchen when he was 5 or so, so my boyfriend started having him help out with little things, and as he got older and continued showing interest – he gave him harder tasks until he was cooking alongside him.

My son is almost 11 now and still loves to help in the kitchen, so I might grab this!
